D4D Offline Caching & Session Limits

PropIntel supports offline operation for D4D sessions so you can canvass neighborhoods without relying on continuous cellular connectivity. Pro+

How Offline Caching Works

Before heading out, you can pre-download map tiles and parcel data for your target area:

  1. Navigate to the area you plan to canvass on the map.
  2. Tap the cache icon (download arrow) in the D4D toolbar.
  3. Select the area to cache (the visible map extent or a defined radius).
  4. Wait for the download to complete (typically 30-60 seconds depending on area size).

Cached data is stored in your browser's IndexedDB storage and persists across sessions.

What Works Offline

  • Map viewing — Pre-cached map tiles render without connectivity
  • Parcel tapping — Basic property information (address, owner, value, distress flags) from cached data
  • Adding to D4D list — Tag properties while offline
  • GPS tracking — Your device GPS works independently of cellular data

What Requires Connectivity

  • Search — Natural language search and address lookup need the server
  • AI Scoring — Scoring runs require the backend API
  • Detail Panel full data — Some fields load from the server on demand
  • Sync — Uploading your tagged properties to the server

How Sync Works

When you regain connectivity, PropIntel automatically replays your offline actions:

  1. Properties you tagged are uploaded to the server
  2. Notes you added are synced
  3. Any filter changes you made are applied
  4. The sync indicator in the TopBar shows sync status (pending, syncing, complete)

Sync uses IndexedDB to queue actions. Actions are replayed in order and the queue clears once the server confirms each one.

Troubleshooting

  • Cache fails to download — Check available device storage. Map tiles for a neighborhood can be 50-100MB.
  • Data appears stale — Offline cache does not update automatically. Re-cache before each D4D session.
  • Sync stuck — Force a sync by toggling D4D mode off and on. If the issue persists, check your internet connection.
